Art by Richard R. Russo
In 2010 Richard R. Russo began to evolve the first series of
paintings of several. They debuted during the Clifton Day
Festival. This series was relegated to historic homes and
businesses of Clifton.

The painting technique starts with acrylic paints, however these
paints are handled just as one would paint oils. Colour's are
modeled and layered with gloss water-based varnish glazes until
the total painting is complete. The result is a painting that
reflects rich colour and brilliant luminosity that envelopes
intense real-life representation. The process takes time and
delivers nothing short of that of an oil medium.

This painting is executed in a Water-based French Gouache Paint. The nature of this medium is very similar to water-colour, however it can build into a very opaque consistency. The client wanted a mood and temperament that reflected a realism, but painterly quality. Opting for something other than Oils or Acrylics, delivered what the client had wished. The subject was a steeped , kind and loving heart. The Client wanted these elements captured in the painting. SOLD

SOLD Dwayne Nitz, Co-Mayor of Clifton : "Many thanks for the
painting you've brought to our home.
Our family has put a lot of
love into this house over the past
10 years from restoration, to
renovation, to additions, etc... It's
funny, I started renting this
house in 1997 and was sad to move out
in spring of 2000. The
day I moved out, my wife (then girlfriend) said, "You'll be back,
you belong in this place". I thought it was a nice thing to
say at
the time, but it proved to be more prophetic. We ended up buying
it in 2001, getting married, adding on with our own hands, and
raising a
family within. Everyone values home - but we have a
rich history with
ours and your painting distills so much of what we feel
about this place.Thank you.
